Visit of Dr. Jeremy M. Eckhause

    April 5, 2013

Dr. Jeremy M. Eckhause from LMI (Logistics Management Institute) visited IFP School on March 25th-29th.

During his visit, Dr. Eckhause gave a set of lectures entitled “Employing Real Options to Mitigate Risk in Energy R&D Funding Decisions” to the graduate students enrolled in the Energy and Markets program. He provided an overview on real options solutions techniques. His lectures helped increase students’ awareness of the utility of real options models to evaluate optimal funding strategies of large, technologically uncertain projects.

LMI is a not-for-profit strategic consulting firm that was founded in 1961 under the recommendation of Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara. Nowadays, about 1,000 LMI employees provide expertise in the fields of defense, intelligence, healthcare, homeland security, energy and environment.

Dr. Eckhause has 15 years of experience developing mathematical optimization and simulation models for transportation, government and defense agencies in the United States. He has produced original research that has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences. Dr. Eckhause has a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania, a M.S.E. in Operations Research from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland.
